Rude Cosmopolitan

The Cosmopolitan is almost a fashion statement in it’s own right. It first became popular in New York during 1980s and it’s appeal further enhanced by the popular TV show ‘Sex & City’.

It is one of the most popular classic drinks on the bar scene. Don’t let the pink colour this Cosmo fool you into thinking this cocktail is fluffy.

Ever since the November 2007 release of the hilarious single “Ur So Gay,”. Katy Perry has been wowing critics and fans alike with her big voice, sassy attitude, and confessional songs.

Her debut album, “One of the Boys”, is a sharp, witty pop-rock gem filled with tales of neurotic ex-boyfriends, crazy road trips with friends and figuring out who you are along the way.

The Bourne Conspiracy

The Bourne Conspiracy is a third-person action game blending hunter-prey gameplay through a seamless mix of hand-to-hand fighting, gunplay and dramatic escapes, all designed around Jason Bourne’s signature combat style.

Developed by High Moon Studios in collaboration with Ludlum Entertainment, and with story and character development in conjunction with Bourne screenwriter Tony Gilroy, the game is a companion to the blockbuster films and best-selling novels.

Players experience a new storyline in The Bourne Conspiracy, becoming Bourne and playing both as a trained assassin and a marked government agent trying to uncover the conspiracy shrouding his origins. True to the Bourne franchises trademark blend of precision hand-to-hand combat and gunplay, the core to the gameplay is Bourne’s definition as a ‘perfect weapon,’ with heightened combat instinct, where players use his characteristic capabilities to recognize threats, perform devastating takedown moves and use the environment to overcome deadly situations.

Top album with some real catchy tunes. Buy this if you like Blondie, Hot Chip and CSS. I’ll be playing this album all summer!

Rating My Music

A useful method for rating my music in iTunes with stars has eluded me ever since the feature was introduced. Here’s a new method I’m trying:

» 5 stars = “I could listen to this song anytime, in any mood”

» 4 stars = “I love it”

» 3 stars = “I like it”

» 2 stars = “It’s okay (but I have to be in the mood)”

» 1 stars = “Not a fan, but I keep it around for some reason”

My goal is to rate every song in my library with this system. Unrated songs will be left unchecked, and won’t play in shuffle mode or get transferred to my iPod.

Added to the data that iTunes records automatically (e.g. play count, times skipped, etc.) I’m finding new ways to rediscover my music. For example, finding songs that I love but have not played in a while, was as easy as creating a Smart Playlist.

This list pulled back 218 songs.

Yael Naim

2007 sophomore album from the Paris-born and Israel raised singer/songwriter born to Jewish and Tunisian parents, Yael Naïm first hit the pop-music scene in 2001, but her debut was not what she had hoped for. The album, In a Man’s Womb, was a sobering affair for Yael, who considered the album a personal failure.

This album, which features songs sung in French, English and Hebrew, features the worldwide sensation ‘New Soul’, a track that has gained fame as being the music played during Apple’s Macbook Air ad campaign and includes a surprising cover in Britney Spears’ “Toxic”.

Army of two

EA’s Army of two takes the buddy system to the next level. You are a soldier in a two-man squad, and all gameplay centers around two-man missions, two-man strategies, and the fact that two heads are sometimes better than one.

Your two-man outfit is composed of ex-Army Rangers now working for a Private Military Corporation (PMC). And your task is to work hand in hand with your partner to form the deadliest Army of Two on the planet. Your teammate may be A.I., or transfer online and play live with a friend. When one man is not enough, it’s going to take an Army of Two to save us.

» Two-man gameplay: Co-op isn’t just a mode, it’s the whole game. Work with your teammate to develop two-man strategies, and use that advantage to eliminate enemies.

» Intelligent partner A.I.: Partner A.I. (PAI) has been developed to work with the way the gamer actually plays the game, taking the lead when it needs to do so, or dropping back in support at other times.

» Customization: Weapons are upgradeable and customizable, and of course, can be shared with your partner.

» Online play: Move seamlessly between play with computer partner A.I. to a real life partner. Don’t think alone, think like you’re in an Army of Two!

Soda Fountain Rag

Ragnhild Hogstad Jordahl from Bergen, Norway is Soda Fountain Rag. To be honest there is not much information about her on her My Space page, but all you need to know is that she makes wonderful indie pop tunes and that’s what matters.

The music, for which she plays all the instruments, is unsurprisingly lo-fi but also has elements of 1960’s girl bands and jangle pop.

I have been listening to the songs on my space and I like all of them, if I had to pick a favourite, I would go for You Can’t Stop Me.

The Cardigans are also known for their iconic video for “My Favourite Game” which was directed by the uber cool Jonas Åkerlund.

Made in the dark

Made In The Dark is Hot Chip’s third full-length release and the follow up to their critically acclaimed album The Warning. This new installment shows Hot Chip at their best, wonderfully soulful and poppy. The sound of the band has evolved towards a wilder, heavier electronics, though still coupled with a signature pop aesthetic.

This tougher sound is no more evident than on the single ‘Shake A Fist’ which created a massive stir when it crept out at the end of 2007 on a limited etched 12” ‘Ready
For The Floor’ and ‘One Pure Thought’, add pure, unadulterated head rush pop into the mix. Made In The Dark also shows that the band is equally at home creating songs
of intimacy and melancholy as they were dancefloor fillers.
